Thank you for all the guidance over the last two years, its been a purchasing venture I have enjoyed and would not hesitate in recommending the services of A Place in France. - Mr Talbot

French Inheritance Law and French Tax

French inheritance law is different to UK inheritance law and is set up to protect the rights of the descendants as the main inheritors of the French property.

When searching for your new home do therefore also consider, in the early stages of your French property project, inheritance and tax planning. This will provide you with full understanding of the differences in the two systems and bring you peace of mind.

It is important to have these matters finalised prior to completion (signing of the Deed of sale) in order to finalise your new property purchase as best suits your personal and family circumstances. Once informed you will be able to choose the best way to own your French property (joint ownership, sole name, company, etc).

We will be happy to make recommendations of UK firms experienced in French Inheritance and Tax Law.
